Basic Wormery Starter Kit

The Basic Wormery Starter Kit is designed to help you begin vermicomposting using tiger worms. Vermicomposting is the process of composting using worms to turn household waste into valuable organic matter. It is a quicker method compared to traditional composting and suitable for gardens of all sizes.

This wormery composting kit includes a 250g pouch containing 50 to 70 tiger worms. Tiger worms are widely regarded as the best worm type for worm composting due to their strong appetite and ability to process organic waste efficiently.

Wormery Starter Kit With Coir Bedding And Lime Mix

Your worm compost starter kit contains a 650g coir block bedding to create a suitable environment for your worms, along with 1.5kg lime mix to help maintain balanced conditions inside your wormery. Total kit weight is 2kg.

Liquid Plant Food From Vermicomposting Process

The vermicomposting process produces liquid plant food within 6 to 8 weeks. This liquid feed is high in potassium and phosphorus with a medium level of nitrogen. It also contains essential minerals and trace elements to support healthy plant growth.

Important Information About Tiger Worm Delivery

Due to storage conditions, tiger worms may arrive in a dormant state. This is normal. The worm will become active again within a few days once introduced to the correct wormery environment.

What Household Waste Can Be Added To A Wormery

Fruit and vegetable scraps, tea leaves and coffee grounds are commonly added. Avoid meat, dairy and oily foods to maintain a balanced composting environment.

Specifications

Contents: 250g pouch of 50 - 70 tiger worms, 650g coir block bedding and 1.5kg lime mix.

Weight: 2kg

How To Use

Once your wormery is assembled, add two good-sized handfuls of rotting waste to a bottom corner of your bin and place the lid on top.

You should wait a week before adding further waste as during the first few weeks, the worms are settling in and exploring their new home.

Start adding a couple of handfuls of waste every few days at first and slowly increase accordingly.

Once established your wormery should cope easily with the average food waste of a family of four.

More Information

Lime Mix: This mix will ensure that the environment in the wormery is stable and non-acidic. Add a handful every month, or more if you use lots of acidic fruits. Typically this bag should last you about 6 months.

Worms: Tiger Worms are the best worms you can use in your wormery for worm composting. They're supplied in soil and breathable pouches. (approx 50-70 worms)

Coir Block: Approx. 650 grams in weight. Coconut Coir is extracted from the husk on the outer shell of a coconut and has an excellent water-holding capacity.
