Snail nematodes are used for biological control of juvenile snails in garden areas. They work when applied to moist soil or surfaces that snails move across. They can also reach snails that shelter close to the ground or around pots when conditions are damp.

Snail Nematodes For Garden Snail Control

Snail nematodes focus on soil and the surfaces that snails travel across which differs from nematodes specifically aimed for slug deterrent. Snails often rest on pots, stems, shaded walls and lower foliage so the application is directed onto these areas as well as the soil. This helps the nematodes make contact when snails move close to the ground in moist conditions.

Snail Nematodes And Application Conditions

Snail nematodes need moisture to move and reach the snail. Apply during the warmer months or after rain when snails travel across soil or lower foliage. Watering the area before and after application helps create a film of moisture. Apply in the evening or on cloudy days to avoid drying.

Please note: these nematodes are a live product with an expiry date of around two weeks and are non-returnable. Use the whole pack before the expiry date.

Snail Nematodes For Soil And Surface Treatment

Use a watering can or fine spray to reach soil and surfaces snails travel across. Alternatively, you can use our nematode applicator to easily apply the nematodes. Snails often shelter on stems, leaves, pots or shaded walls so treating these lower areas helps contact. Some snails with thick shells or those that climb may show lower response so combine with other methods if needed.

These nematodes do not affect pollinators, birds, or mammals and are safe to use where pets and children play. They can also be used around edible crops with no waiting period required after application.

Do snail nematodes target snails that climb?

Snails that climb or rest higher above the soil may be harder to reach so focus treatment on soil and lower plant zones.

Is this product applied differently from slug nematodes?

Yes, snail nematodes are also directed at lower surfaces such as pots and stems where snails move.

When should snail nematodes be applied?

Apply during warmer months or after rainfall when snails move close to the ground.

Do snail nematodes need moisture to work?

Yes, they move through moisture so the treated area should be kept damp before and after use.

Can I use a watering can to apply snail nematodes?

Yes, a watering can or fine spray helps reach soil and surfaces snails travel over.

Can snail nematodes be used with other controls?

Yes, combining them with other barriers or snail traps can help reach snails that are harder to contact.

How To Use

Storage & Handling

Nematodes should be stored as soon as possible after delivery. They can be stored in the fridge or below 5°C until the expiry date on the package.

Do not freeze or expose to high temperatures. Minimum soil temperature for application: 5°C.

When to Apply

The soil should be moist and should be kept moist for three to four weeks after application. Apply in the evening when snails are most active. Water immediately after application.

If you are applying over plants, water the plants within 30 minutes of application to wash the nematodes off the leaves and back onto the soil. Also apply under and around pots, under foliage and in moist shaded areas where snails can be found.

Please note: This nematode is only effective against juvenile snails.

Application

Apply the nematodes with a watering can fitted with a coarse 14mm rose or a sprayer. If using a sprayer, remove all filters finer than 1.4mm mesh. Spray using a maximum pressure of 5 bar through nozzles at least 0.5mm.

How to Use

Use the entire pack.

1. Make a stock solution by emptying the whole packet into 4L of water and stir continuously. Once mixed, this solution must be used within 4 hours.

2. Take 0.5L of the stock solution and pour into a separate bucket, then mix with 4.5L of water, stirring continuously.

3. Move the 5L solution from the bucket into a watering can. One watering can will treat 5m².

4. Repeat this process until all the stock solution has been used, then water the treated area with the watering can or a hosepipe.
