Nematode Pods offer an effective method of controlling fungus gnats (sciarid flies) at the larval stage within the soil. Each pearl contains live, beneficial nematodes enclosed in a biodegradable, food-grade capsule.

As the capsule naturally breaks down in moist soil, the nematodes are gradually released and begin seeking out and eliminating fungus gnat larvae protecting plant roots from damage.

Benefits

  • Targets larvae before they can damage plant root systems
  • Provides long-lasting protection through a slow-release formulation
  • Biodegradable, microplastic-free, and made from food-safe materials
  • Remains effective for up to 8 weeks when refrigerated

Coverage

One pack of 200 pods treats:

Damage Caused by Sciarid Fly

While adult sciarid flies (fungus gnats) are mostly a nuisance, the real issue lies in their larvae. These small, translucent grubs feed on organic matter and delicate root structures, particularly in seedlings and young plants. If left untreated, infestations can lead to root damage, stunted growth, or even plant loss.

Lifecycle of the Sciarid Fly (Fungus Gnat)
Egg Stage (2–3 days)
Eggs are laid in moist, organic-rich soil. One female can lay up to 200 eggs.

Larval Stage (2–3 weeks)
Larvae hatch and begin feeding on fungi, decaying matter, and fine plant roots. This stage causes the most damage to plants.

Pupal Stage (3–7 days)
Larvae pupate in the soil during a non-feeding stage.

Adult Stage (7–10 days)
Adult fungus gnats emerge and live for about a week. They do not harm plants directly but indicate the presence of damp soil suitable for breeding.
