If you're worried about a hot climate and hose pipe bans affecting your ability to grow flowers, then the flowers for drought-resistance seeds are ideal for you. A collection of six varieties, specially curated to flourish in dry and hot weather.

Even as the temperature goes up these seeds will blossom into flowers that will add sparkling colours to your garden.

How To Use

Amaranthus Love Lies Bleeding

Sow indoors - From March to April in trays of seed compost, ensure to cover lightly with compost. Keep the seeds at approx. 15-20°C and when large enough transplant them to further trays, keeping them 5cms apart. Stand the seeds outside for a few days in late May to ensure you avoid frosts. 

Transplant the seedlings to flowering positions, and space them 45cms apart

Sow outdoors - Sow from March to May in flowering positions, in rows 45cms apart. Make sure you protect early seedlings with cloches. Drought-resistant seeds sown outdoors will flower between July and October. 

California Poppy Golden Values

Sow outdoors - From March to May or August to October in flowering position. Cover the seeds lightly with fine soil, firm gently and keep moist. Thin young plants to 15cms apart. Make 2-3 sowing for a longer flowering season and protect late sowings with cloches in the winter. These flowers will bloom in June to October and late sowings will flower later in the year. 

Gazania Sunshine Mixed 

Sow indoors - From February to April in trays of seed compost. Keep moist and cover with glass or polythene. Keep at 20-25°C and remove the cloche when the seedlings appear. Thin when the seedlings are large enough to 5cms apart. Stand outside in late May to avoid frost. Plant out to flowering positions, spacing 20cms apart. The flowers will bloom between July & October. 

Calendula Geisha Girl

Sow outdoorsFrom March to June or August to October in flowering position. Cover the seeds lightly with fine soil and firm gently. Make sure to keep the soil most. Thin young plants to 20cms apart and make 2-3 sowings for a longer flowering season. Keep the seedlings moist and weed free. This plant will flower between May & October and later sowings will flower the following year. 

Eryngium Planum 

Sow indoors - From January to April in trays of seed compost. Keep moist and cover with glass or polythene. Keep at approx. 15°C and remove the covers when seedlings appear. Harden off the seedlings and plant out in flowering position from September to October spacing 30cms apart. This will flower from June to October the following year.

Mesembryanthemum Harlequin Mixed

Sow indoors - February to April in trays of seed compost. Keep moist and cover with glass or polythene. Keep at approx. 20°C and remove the cover when the seedlings appear. Thin when large enough to 5cms apart and stand outside in late May to avoid frosts. Plant out in flowering position, spacing 15cms apart. This plant will flower between June & September.
