Capillary Matting For Greenhouse And Plant Watering Professional Grade
Capillary Matting For Greenhouse And Plant Watering Professional Grade - 1m (Buy per metre) is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Capillary matting designed for greenhouse benches, seed trays and plant watering systems. This professional grade capillary matting draws water upwards through true capillary action and can lift water up to 6 cm. Manufactured from man made fibres, the matting supports steady moisture supply for plants grown in trays, pots and greenhouse benches.
Capillary Matting For Greenhouse Bench Watering
This capillary matting shows genuine capillary action, drawing water upwards through the fibres to maintain moisture around plant pots and trays. The material lifts water up to 6 cm, helping plants access moisture from below. It is commonly used on greenhouse benches where plants require consistent watering.
Professional Grade Capillary Matting For Plant Watering
The matting is professional grade and the same type used in supermarkets for plant displays and watering systems. Manufactured from man made fibres, it supports steady water movement across the surface. This helps distribute moisture across greenhouse benches or growing areas.
Greenhouse Capillary Matting Sizes And Dimensions
Each sheet of capillary matting measures 0.60 m wide and is approximately 3 mm thick. Available lengths include per metre, 1.5 m, 3 m, 5 m and a 50 m roll. These options allow gardeners and growers to choose a suitable size for greenhouse benches, grow tables or plant watering areas.
Capillary Matting Maintenance And Cleaning
If the capillary matting becomes soiled it can be washed using warm water and mild detergent. For cleaning with plant friendly products it may also be washed using a natural citrus cleaner. Regular cleaning helps maintain water movement through the fibres.
Capillary Matting Cutting And Installation
The matting can be cut using standard scissors to suit greenhouse benches or plant trays. Once cut it can be laid flat on the growing surface with the edge placed into a water reservoir. This allows water to travel through the matting and supply moisture to plant pots.
Capillary Matting For Long Term Greenhouse Use
This capillary matting is designed for repeated use and with reasonable care can last up to eight years. The man made fibre construction supports long term use in greenhouse environments and plant watering systems.
Capillary Matting For Greenhouse Plant Watering Systems
Capillary matting supports plant watering by allowing water to move through the fibres and reach plant pots placed on the surface. Gardeners often use this method to maintain moisture for greenhouse plants while away for short periods.

Capillary Matting For Greenhouse Growing Systems
This capillary matting is widely used in professional growing environments including supermarkets and plant nurseries. The material supports controlled watering for plants grown in pots and trays, helping maintain stable moisture conditions across growing benches.
Can capillary matting be used inside the home?
Yes, capillary matting can be used indoors for houseplants placed on trays or grow tables. It allows pots to draw moisture from below without frequent watering.
Does capillary matting work with seed trays?
Seed trays placed on capillary matting can absorb moisture through their drainage holes. This method helps maintain steady moisture during seed germination.
Can capillary matting be used in cold frames?
Cold frames can use capillary matting in the same way as greenhouse benches. The matting allows plants to take up moisture from a reservoir beneath the growing surface.
Is capillary matting reusable each growing season?
Yes, the matting can be reused across growing seasons if cleaned and stored properly when not in use.
How do plant pots absorb water from capillary matting?
Water travels through the fibres of the matting and enters the potting compost through the drainage holes at the base of the pot.
Can capillary matting help reduce watering frequency?
Capillary matting allows plants to take water as needed from below, which may reduce the need for frequent manual watering.

Greenhouse watering:In the greenhouse the surface of the bench should be covered with a sheet of polythene before the matting is laid out. The bench should be reasonably level. Any slope must not have a fall of more than 5cm. A water reservoir may be installed at a slightly lower level than the bench, no more than 7.5cm below the level of the matting. A small strip of the matting about 7.5 cm wide may be used as a wick to feed the matting.
Holiday watering: For holiday watering of houseplants set up a piece of matting on, for example the draining board fed via a matting wick from a reservoir in sink. The soil in the pots and the matting should be thoroughly wetted for the capillary action to take effect.
