Parasitic Wasp Mix - Ornamentals
Parasitic Wasp Mix - Ornamentals is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Parasitic wasp mix for ornamental plants. The mixtures reduces the need for accurate pest species identification and are suitable for preventative use against a range of aphid species, particularly in mixed cropping situations.
Use at the first sign of aphids or better, as an early season preventative.
Application Rate: The dosage of Aphiscout depends on climate, crop and aphid density and species, and should always be adjusted to the particular situation. Start introduction preventively soon after planting of the crop. Introduction rates typically range from 0.75-1.5 parasitic wasps per m2. This is equivalent to one unit every 250-350 m2. The parasitic wasps will emerge within 2 weeks. Releases should be repeated when aphids are still present. If the aphid species present is known it might be better to switch to an appropriate single species product (Aphilin, Aphipar, Aphipar-M or Ervipar).
Application Method: Peel off the outer layer of the label starting at the upper right corner Hang the cylinder horizontally from a crop wire, branch, or leaf stalk by winding the label around it and sticking the end of the label back onto the label Turn the lid until the small holes align with the opening Apply as soon as possible after receipt. If necessary, the product can be stored for 1-2 days. Store in the dark between 8-10°C.
Notes: This five-species parasitoid wasp mix provides highly effective preventative control against
aphids. Because aphid populations consist of many species with varying body shapes and sizes, each parasitoid wasp species has its own preference for specific aphid hosts. By combining five different species, this mix ensures control over the majority of aphid species likely to occur, offering a reliable solution when multiple aphid species are present or when the exact species are unknown. The mix is especially valuable in ornamental biocontrol programmes, where the diversity of plant species often attracts a wide range of aphid species. By covering this broad spectrum, the mix provides a strong, adaptable, and comprehensive line of defense.

How To Use
Use at the first sign of aphids or better, as an early season preventative. Apply as complete tube into the crop.
Temperatures need to be above 13?C at least for the species to be active. Please see the picture on the right for application, with the cane needing to be located as close as possible to the crop canopy and avoid getting wet

Contains Aphidius colemani(30), Aphidius ervi (30), Aphidius matricariae (30), Aphelinus abdominalis (40), Praon volucre (40) and Ephedrus cerasicola (70) (count per 240 vial).
The mixtures reduce the need for accurate pest species identification and are suitable for preventative use against a range of aphid species, particularly in mixed cropping situations.
Aphidius colemani is particularly effective against round bodied aphid species such as Myzus persicae (peach-potato aphid) and Aphis gossypii (melon cotton aphid). It is not effective against Macrosiphum species.
Aphidius ervi is specifically for the larger elliptical shaped species including Macrosiphum euphorbiae (potato aphid) and Aulacorthum solani (glasshouse potato aphid). Several other aphid species such as the pea aphid are also parasitised.
Aphidius matricariae has a slightly different host range to Aphidius colemani and includes Ovatus crataegarius (mint aphid).
Aphelinus abdominalis controls a wide range of aphid species including Macrosiphum euphorbiae (potato aphid) and Aulacorthum solani (glasshouse potato aphid). It has a very long life span.
Praon volucre controls a wide range of aphid species including a number not controlled by other available aphid parasites. It has a long life cycle.
Ephedrus cerasicola has a long life cycle and high rate of egg laying capacity. Effective on a wide range of aphid species.
