For gardeners managing larger planting areas, Gardening Naturally Vine Weevil Nematodes large garden pack offers reliable biological control of vine weevil larvae across borders, containers and planting beds.

Vine weevil larvae feed on plant roots beneath the soil surface, causing sudden plant collapse and serious damage to ornamental plants and fruit crops. Treating the soil with beneficial nematodes targets the pest at its most destructive stage.

Effective Biological Vine Weevil Control

This product contains Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, a species of beneficial nematode widely used in natural pest control. Once introduced into moist soil, the nematodes actively seek out vine weevil larvae feeding around plant roots.

After entering the larvae, they multiply and spread through the soil, helping reduce the pest population across the treatment area.

Ideal for Large Gardens

This large coverage pack is suitable for:

  • Garden borders
  • Raised beds
  • Ornamental planting schemes
  • Strawberry beds
  • Large container collections

It provides coverage for up to 100 m², making it ideal for larger gardens or multiple treatment areas.

Best Treatment Times

Apply when vine weevil larvae are active in soil:

  • Spring (March–May)
  • Late summer to autumn (August–October)

Nematodes require soil temperatures above 12°C and moist soil conditions.

Note: These are a live product and have an expiry date of around 2 weeks.

Easy Application

Simply mix the nematodes with water and apply around plant roots using a watering can or applicator. Maintain moist soil conditions for several days after application to help the nematodes move through the soil.

We offer nematode applicators, nematode watering cans, nematode sprayers and watering can roses to help apply nematodes easier.

For smaller treatment areas see our Gardening Naturally Vine Weevil Nematodes 12m² pack, ideal for containers and patio plants.

How To Use

Best applied when the larvae are active which is late spring and early autumn.

Apply to pots and open ground March - May and the second application would be between August - October. This is when the vine weevil larvae are present and the soil is above 12ºC. If applying under cover the pests life cycle is broken and our Vine Weevil Killer can be applied at any time, as long as the soil is above 12ºC. Apply directly to the soil around the roots which is where the larvae will be feeding.

The nematodes come complete with instructions and can be applied using a watering can or nematode applicator. You just apply to moist soil when the soil temperature is above 12ºC.

More Information

Our nematodes are manufactured in a different way to other nematodes.

The standard nematode is made from a gel formulation which requires more water and results in the overall size/mass of each pack being larger.

Our nematodes are naturally formulated which means the overall mass/size is smaller however the content of nematodes are still the same.
