Quick Lawn Grass Seed & Feed Mix 1.5kg
Quick Lawn Grass Seed & Feed Mix 1.5kg - 210g is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Johnsons Quick Lawn is a grass seed and fertiliser mix designed to get lawns going quickly, with visible growth often showing in 7–14 days. It combines British-grown grass seed with added nutrients to support early root development and thicker coverage. Suitable for new lawns, patching bare areas, or overseeding tired grass.
Quick lawn grass seed for fast establishment
This mix is aimed at quicker germination, especially when soil temperatures are right. In warmer spring or early autumn conditions, you’ll usually see green shoots within a couple of weeks. In colder soil, it slows down quite a bit. That’s just how grass seed behaves.
Lawn seed and feed for new lawns and repairs
Use at 35g per sqm for new lawns and 25g per sqm when overseeding. It works well for filling in worn patches where grass has thinned out. The fertiliser helps seedlings get going, though you’ll still need to keep the area watered during dry spells.
Grass seed mix with wear, shade and drought tolerance
The blend includes grasses suited to general garden use, including areas that get some foot traffic or partial shade. It won’t fix heavy shade completely, but it holds up better than basic mixes. Growth tends to even out after the first few cuts.
Lawn seed coverage
210g pack covers around 10 square metres
1.5kg pack covers up to 60 square metres
Sow from March through to October when the ground isn’t too cold or waterlogged.
Mowing and lawn care after sowing
Once established, aim to keep the lawn at around 25mm (1 inch). You’ll notice the grass thickening after a few cuts, but don’t rush the first mow. If cut too early, you can pull up young seedlings.
FAQ
Should I cover once I have put the seeds down?
You can cover with 30g garden fleece if it is a bit cold or windy. If birds are a problem use our butterfly netting, just lift it slighty off the ground so the birds cant peck through using canes.
How quickly will I see grass grow?
In good conditions, usually within 7–14 days. Cooler weather can push this back.
Can I use this for patching bare spots?
Yes, it’s commonly used for small repairs and worn areas.
Is it suitable for shady gardens?
It copes with some shade, but very dark areas will still struggle.
Do I need to water it after sowing?
Yes. Keep the soil damp, especially during dry or windy weather.
When is the best time to sow?
Spring and early autumn tend to give the most consistent results.
How soon can I mow new grass?
Wait until it reaches a decent height and is well rooted before the first cut.
